Tom Kaupp founded Image Makers Advertising in 1983 with a drive to grow client businesses via top-rate advertising services—and we’ve been a thriving agency ever since thanks to his solid foundation. In March of 2017, Tina Chovanec became president/owner of IMA after Tom sadly lost his battle with cancer. To continue honoring Tom’s legacy and move IMA forward, Tina is as hands-on as an owner can be and backed by a growing team of professionals—each with his or her own expertise, but all with a shared focus on our original commitment to superior client service.
Today’s IMA is not the same as it was yesterday, because like marketing, we’re constantly evolving. IMA is uniquely a true full-service agency, offering everything in house from video production to website and SEO (search engine optimization) services, along with all the traditional agency services, including strategic planning and creative services, media buying (both traditional and digital), PR, and social media services.
Our Community, Building, and A Mystery
Image Makers Advertising is located in downtown Waukesha on the north side of the Fox River. Our historic limestone building is listed in the Waukesha Register of Historical Places and is known as Waukesha Motor Company’s first location (now GE Energy!). Its first use was as storage for Waukesha County Manufacturing Co. back in 1906, but the year our building was actually constructed is a bit of a mystery. All along we thought it was built in 1892, but varying reports over the years point to construction somewhere between 1839 and 1906. What we can confirm is the building has been a great place for IMA to grow its own history.
Throughout the year, Waukesha is host to many community events including farmers markets, festivals, Friday Night Live, Carl Zack Cycling Classic, and more. In 2012, Waukesha was declared a Gibson “Guitar Town” as the birthplace of Les Paul. Ten-foot guitars painted by local artists are on display throughout the city during the warmer months to celebrate art and music together. Come visit!
